Project Schedule Finalization
The Master Project Planning Workshop produces a preliminary schedule that must then be finalized to reflect the team’s ability to achieve project objectives in the fastest time possible. The schedule optimization process ensures that a detailed schedule is produced and validated by the team members who must actually do the work. The process obtains buy-in and a commitment from key project resources, and produces an “achievable” project schedule.
Delivery Method – 3-9 days onsite working with project and functional leads, and core team.
Focus
• Schedule completion – ensure all tasks have owners, durations, predecessors and successors, etc.
• Resource loading – load critical resources as needed to understand whether or not the bandwidth exists to accomplish key tasks on time.
• Schedule optimization (critical path) – swap resources, run activities in parallel, make outsourcing decisions, etc. to maximize the use of resources and minimize the time to completion. Understand and optimize the critical path.
• Calendars – creating and applying personal or project calendars as needed.
